More Welsummers
Willy with one of his fifty wives. The hens have very fine pheasant markings and are large full-breasted birds while the male is vividly coloured with black/green irridescent tail feathers, an orange ruff and burgundy feathers over his back.

Welsummers were chosen for the Barton chicken flock because they look so good and are a pleasure to have around. We keep around fifty birds and they are excellent egg producers. We encourage our broody hens to sit on their clutch but also incubate and raise chicks ourselves. We don't cull the flock but regularly introduce new bloodlines from other pedigree flocks.

This hen hatched just three chicks but she is very happy with them. They will be introduced to the flock in a few weeks.
It's a big world out there but I will soon be big enough to cope with it. I just hope I turn out to be a hen.
